PaScn3D – First scan

Pre requirements:

Step 1 – Configure your smartphone.

You should prepare your smartphone to make a photo triggered by sound. If you have a hardware shutter connected to your Prusa – you can use it. Personally, I don`t have a such hardware, so I used Android app – OpenCamera. Tip: setup sound level in config menu on Prusa i3 Mk3 and setup trigger sound level on your phone. To make the configuration easier, I used Pronterface software by sending G-Code: M300 P100.

Step 2 – Make a G-Code for you printer

Open excel file (file is quite simple, you can use LibreOffice) and setup parameters. The most important parameter is steps – determines how many photos will be taken around the object. Delay before & after photo should be tuned – lower delay make scan faster, but sometimes make blurry photos. You shoud try it.

After this please select text from GCode worksheet, copy to notepad and save as .gcode file.

Step 3 – Place your object into scanner and make series of photos – just run gcode.

Step 4 – Copy photos to your PC & run Photogrammetry software. Prusa Research made a great article about it. Read it again!

Step 5 – Cleanup scene (MeshLab)

Step 6 – Scanned 3d model – dog (before cleaning & fixing)
